Slip Into Your Wetsuit: The Story Behind SlipIns

In the vibrant coastal community of Newport Beach, California, a pioneering idea took shape under the sunny skies — a vision that would soon transform the experience of water enthusiasts around the world. This is the story of SlipIns, a brand born from the ingenuity of Robin Chesnie and Rick Rickman, whose shared passion for the ocean and its preservation fueled the creation of their stunning and sun-protective swimwear.

The Genesis of SlipIns

It all began with a common struggle among divers and surfers: the cumbersome process of slipping into and out of wetsuits. This essential gear, vital for warmth and protection, was notoriously difficult to manage. With Robin's background as an environmental activist who has volunteered with the Ocean Preservation Alliance for over a decade, and Rick's expertise as a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, they were perfectly teamed to rethink this gear.

Their solution? Designing form-fitting, vibrantly patterned garments that not only made it easier to wear wetsuits but also offered unmatched UPF 50+ sun protection.

"SlipIns DiveSkin changed my scuba life! I no longer dread putting on thick wetsuits. And when I wear it on its own, I feel svelte, sexy, functional, and protected (which at the end of the dive, is what I care most about!)."
- Justine Benanty, Customer

The Power of a Visionary Partnership

Your journey in the water is influenced by the environmental commitment and artistic vision behind each SlipIns piece. Robin’s extensive travels across the oceans have deepened her commitment to eco-friendly products that support ocean health. Rick, bringing stories to life through his global photographic experiences, translated this narrative into the visual design of SlipIns, creating patterns that captivate and inspire.

Comfort in Swimwear

Innovation and Comfort in Swimwear

As the range of SlipIns expanded, so did its innovation. What started with DiveSkins soon included a variety of sun-protective gear such as Sea Legs, long-sleeve swimsuits, and Sand Pants, each designed to meet your specific needs in water sports. Whether you’re surfing, snorkeling, or paddleboarding, SlipIns empowers you to pursue your passions with added comfort and protection.

"This is my second suit. It offers great sun protection and feels like a second skin. So comfortable and easy to get on and off."

This profound insight underscores the shift in our relationship with the natural world, from conquest to stewardship. It’s a principle that’s at the core of our brand and all we do here at SlipIns.
